The Republic of The Gambia is located along both sides of the Gambia River, which is the main transportation artery in the country. It is located specifically in the west of the continent of Africa, and it overlooks the North Atlantic Ocean to the west, and is surrounded by the Republic of Senegal on almost all sides.[1] The Republic is also located astronomically at latitude 13.534°, or 13° 32′ 2.4″ north, and longitude -15.28°, or 15° 16′ 48″ W, and its height is about 14 meters above sea level.[2]

The Republic of The Gambia has a coastal climate characterized by two main seasons, which are as follows:

The wet and short season extends from June to October, and temperatures during this season range between 23-33 degrees Celsius.
It has a long, dry season that extends from November to May, and temperatures during this season range between 18-30 degrees Celsius. Statistics also estimate that the average annual temperature in The Gambia is about 27.96 degrees Celsius during the period between 1991-2020, and the average annual rainfall is estimated at about 949.19 mm annually for the same period.

 Rain falls in the Republic of The Gambia during the period from June to October, with annual rainfall ranging from about 1000 mm in the southeast and south regions, and 700 mm in the northern regions of the country.[5]
